Azraq Lodge Room
Conservation of Nature
A converted 1940s British military field hospital, located at the edge of the Eastern Desert, only a short distance from the Azraq and Shaumari nature reserves. It has an authentic period atmosphere, combined with a modern twist, and provides comfortable and characterful accommodation from which to explore the Eastern Desert. The room is fully equipped for a comfortable stay with air-conditioning and private bathroom. What makes this room special is a terrace overlooking Azraq Village and the sand flats of the Azraq Basin. Also, all staff members are from local Bedouin, Chechen, and Druze communities and the kitchen and restaurant are under the management of a local family, who provide home-cooked Chechen food. The Lodge is open all year.

Location at Azraq Lodge
The Azraq Lodge is a short distance from the Azraq Wetland Reserve. It offers accommodation in Al Azraq ash Shamālī. Originally a British military field hospital, the building was later transformed into the current lodge. Established in 1978, the Azraq Wetland Reserve in Jordan spans 74 km2, nestled between limestone and basalt deserts. It’s lush marshlands and shimmering pools named it “Azraq,” Arabic for “blue.” Home to the Azraq Killifish Aphanius sirhani, Jordan’s only true endemic vertebrate, the reserve boasts a rich biodiversity. With over 350 bird species, 133 plant species, and a variety of other wildlife, it serves as a vital sanctuary and a testament to the importance of conservation efforts.
